August 30, 2020
Due to COVID-19, we are saddened to cancel the traditional Yacht Blast For Kids. In effort to continue to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and to provide a fun day for families will be hosting a boat parade through the lake and into the Milwaukee River for the community to enjoy. Stay tuned for more details.
ABOUT YACHT BLAST FOR KIDS
Since its Inception in 2009, Yacht Blast for Kids has granted 231 wishes for deserving wish children through Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin. Typically, nearly 40 Make-A-Wish kids and their families are invited out on some of Milwaukee's most premier yachts for a amazing morning on the water - followed by an afternoon picnic with games, raffles, auctions, face painting and more.
We have made some significant changes to Yacht Blast For Kids 2020, due to COVID-19. The health and safety of our wish families, boat captains, volunteers, and guests are our top priority so this year we have cancelled the traditional boat rides and afternoon picnic, and have pivoted to a Yacht Blast For Kids boat parade.
The boat parade will begin near the Calatrava at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 30th, and make its way toward Discovery World, under the Hoan Bridge, up the Milwaukee River to approximately The Milwaukee Ale House. Find a spot along the lakefront or riverwalk and watch as some of the biggest and best boats in Milwaukee parade by. We hope you will consider magking a donation so we can continue our mission of granting wishes through Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. All you need to do is Click Here.

Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin grants wishes to children 2.5-18 years old, who are living with critical illnesses. Since their founding in 1984, more than 7,000 children and their families throughout the state have experienced the life-changing power of a wish. This year, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin granted more wishes than ever before - 402 wishes. But there is still more work to be done. More than 500 Wisconsin children will be diagnosed this year alone with a medical condition, qualifying them for a wish.
These are unprecedented times for us all. The health and safety of all Make-A-Wish constituents, including wish families and partners, is the priority. At this time, due to current medical and public concerns, Make-A-Wish America postponed all wish travel, as well as wish kid participation in all activities and events related to Make-A-Wish that involve large gatherings (e.g. large scale wish granting events, theme parks, etc.) until further notice.
In Wisconsin, more than 150 wishes have been delayed and are being rescheduled. There are currently more than 430 children whose wishes are pending. They are hard at work, granting the wishes that can be fulfilled at this time and preparing for the many wishes that will need to be granted once we are through this season.
A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their critical illnesses. For many, the wish marks a turning point in the fight against their illnesses. Doctors, nurses and other health professionals say, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better emotionally and even physically. You can help change a child's life by participating in Yacht Blast For Kids.
